I didn’t mean to betray you,
Suddenly Judas, to your Christ,
But believe me my beautiful,
Walking away was never the easy choice.
Somewhere, in a darkened alley,
I lose my words,
Such a pain for me to have to bear,
The only thing my tongue can find, is your name,
Tripping over the vowels and consonants,
A resounding echo,
In the corners of my heart.
There are things I wish I could forget,
Coffee stained pages in tear stained books,
A broken boned patchwork tapestry,
Bringing up the lump that’s in my throat.
An unbelievable truth reeks of decay,
You loved me too,
It remains somewhere,
Only half in shadow,
Still sleeping in dreams.
You break my soul when you look at me through those eyes,
Black coals, still burning, aglow with my love,
Not even heaven knows,
How much you made me feel.
