I've worked so hard for so little gain
Never wanting power or fame
Just a bit of pleasurable happiness and relief from the pain
It was all a farse, a lie of reality hitting like a cane
I fall for it all the time, makes me wonder if I'm still sane
To keep walking this circular path, this looping lane
Reality smacks me hard and my illusion world wanes
It falls apart in my head and my psyche complains
And so my life repeats itself again and again and again
I go back to work and make so little gain
Never getting the happiness or relief from the pain
It's enough to make one crazy, to shout out something profane
But the cycle never stops, never for the sleet, the cold, the winds or the rain

I think you have repeated the same rhyming sound too much. Just seems like all the lines sound the same.
Good poem and wonderful emotion though.
