Pausing for a moment’s breath,
I settled down to survey
The way the wind will wander
Through cactus
Plumed in age-old blossoms.
The wind is sturdy
It is hot and dry
It is ever-steady
Blowing Fork-tongued
Down my throat
Wrapping tensely about my heart
The curving black brook shimmers
For the lonely wanderers all
Spiraling hallucinations wet
In quicksilver burns
Arching momentary at the crossroads
The coin whispers,
“East or West?”
Then, “West.”

Oh you captured so many things in this write.
The desert and hot wind. loved the wording there.
East or West? Oh yes been there done that many times. Westbound turn a round. Indeed.
Another awesome write.

Great write my friend. The words flow to the flip of the coin. I read it twice to get the full picture. Life is a journey, as is this piece. Well written...........Mike |
