Brain Storm

Topic: StoryPoetry

It was the end of an enjoyable evening and the beginning of a very anticipated fall. The
Summer we were trying to put behind us was devastating. Unbearable heat and months
without record able rain. Luckily a front was blowing through and there was a slight hint of
optimism in the air.

As I drove my date home we shared our feelings of storms, lightning, and thunder as we
watched the skies illuminate around us. The thunder's roar was too distant for the ear, yet
you could feel her intension to pay us a visit.

I returned my date to her origin although reluctant to say goodnight for I felt it would be
a night most enjoyed if it was shared with a companion. I wasn't ready for her absence. Even
though I stole a hug from her, thanked her, and bid her a due, I shall spend the rest of the eve
alone with nature.

Within minutes of arriving home, I could hear the distant mummer of the ongoing light
randomly flashing through the darkness. I know I heard her whispering, "I'm on my way."

Shortly after hearing her first faint cry, I realized it was a good time to retire and
concentrate on what she may have to say to me as she grew closer. I raised my bedroom
window ever so slightly so there would be no doubt of what she'd have to confide in me.

From the birth of the new day until mid-morning, mother nature sang to me in a most
soothing fashion occasionally raising her voice when she thought she'd lost my attention. She
would immediately regain it.

Her tears fell from the heavens consistently throughout the early morn and were
hypnotizing as they stuck the earth which yearned to be quenched. The sound was most
relaxing and sombering. I cried with her several times during the dark hours.

Most assuredly as the sun rose, even though it was far from sight hidden above the
clouds, Ms. Nature was getting ready for her grand finale. She filled my mind with the rage
of her thunder. As the lightning grew closer, it displayed the intensity of her voice. The
nearer she came, the harder she cried.

Her anger persisted with a vengeance for several hours, slowing occasionally just to pout.
My emotions coincided with her fury and calmness as she instilled her feelings in my soul.

Her departure was before me so much more sudden than her arrival, it left me in
awe. How dare she take so much time to introduce herself just to leave me with such a brief
goodbye.

I will look on the bright side and know the anger she had for me to endure was a small
price to pay considering the songs she sang that lulled me all through the dark morning hours,
although she did leave me lonesome.

I shall miss her sweet songs dearly and most assuredly look forward to her return.

Bravo! You painted something lovely here with this write. The rain, thunder, the way you referred to her as she. coming to whispers at you. Great work!
