He fell into a fitful slumber lost inside a dream
He saw her in his dreams on the edge of the sea
She went out late that night when the moon was full.
To bask in the paleness and feel the oceans cool.
She heard that sweet music she could not resist.
She danced along the rocky cliffs in the spray of oceans mist.
He watched her from a distance and his heart skipped a beat.
He felt something in him change as he stared at the beauty near the sea.
Her long silken hair flowing in the wind, the form of her silhouette dancing again.
He wanted to go grab her and pull her into him close, dance for a moment….
She turned to look at him and he could see her smile.
Laughing over the thunderous waves she beckoned him to come.
She smelled like the ocean with a fresh alluring perfume,
he held her tight and knew this night his love would be unfurled.
The woman with the raven hair, oh where did she go?
She disappeared near the sea and the waves a swirl
She whispered in her sweet voice please never leave.
We can dance right here with the music of the sea.
Making love near the edge of the rocky cliffs.
Forever entwined with our loving sentiments.

Michelle,
this is really good, perhaps my favourite one I have read of yours so far. And the illustration fits so well. This is both beautiful, fanciful as well as a little dark and tempestuous (as the woman disappears, perhaps she is a mermaid). In this way it reflects quite neatly the different qualities of the sea..
Ciao,

As you have always done...this is beautiful.
You do have a way with words...I remember when I was able to write like this...
I have missed reading your work.

This piece has a natural rhythmn to it and moves fluidly...(hehe fluidly, like the sea..)
It is both romantic and alluring! |
