the sleeping horse

this is sort of a story and a poem in one.

in this forest dark and deep a beautiful black horse dose sleep.
as the golden sun dose rise the beautiful mare opens her eyes.
the morning sun shines through the trees as the horse gets to her knees.
as she stands tall and proud there comes a noise very loud.
the graceful mare turnes her head to see her foal lying dead upon a golden flower bed.
she turnes around to a strange sound to see a man with a peculiar thing a peice of wood with a string.
the mare knowing that he had killed her child did the only thing she could she went wild.
rearing back and forth to and thro she kickes out with her leg and snapped the mans bow.
the man turns to flee only it was not to be.
the beautiful mare rears up high so her hooves shine against the morning sky.
she brings them down with a crack straight down on the mans back.
the man screams out in rage and pain and tries once more to stand again.
the mare kicks him in the head and now that man dose lie dead.
the distraught mare walkes to her foal and unleashes a cry of sadness and pain for the foal who shall not wake again.
she walks sadly through the night her eyes shining bright with tears and her lonley drooping ears.
she finds a safe quiet clearing she lays down and her sences do fade first her hearing then her
sight then those lovely eyes that did shine so bright.

Vivid dreams you have but nice at the same time.
Written with a flame in the pen.

Sad tale but beautifully written. Imagery is very good. I'm so glad the mare didn't have to die for killing the human. Sometimes there really is justice!
