Emerging from my haven’s light
I take each step with care
Surrounded by the black of night
And caught within its snare
I pause to drink the stillness in
And take a look around
A cool breeze gently strokes my skin
I cannot hear a sound
I think back to the task at hand
The reason why I'm there
I gaze up at a sky so grand
I lose myself and stare

Beautiful flow to this. There is nothing better than laying on the grass and looking at the stars, it is so peaceful.

I'm so happy to find another rhyming poet, I was beginning to think there were none!
Your poem is great. I love your choice of words and the rhythm is perfect.
Your last line is so true. Not only of the stars but of the hills and the sea. All bring a kind of calm that you can get lost in. |
