It began
Not the little blue drops in kindergarten pictures
But rather, a white streak.
Jumping from it's cloudy comfort.
Almost deafening,
Popping corn in the summer heat
Trees try to protect their unders
But we cut ours down
So the driveway got wet
You could hear it when you got inside
It called me back
So I politely obliged
Within seconds it stopped it's tantalizing beat
Sensing my presence
And I watched the sun turn it back
To it's brethren, the mist.

Very nice title, it's what drew me in. And I liked your line "To its brethren, the mist." Kudos. |
