‘tis early ‘morn
Didier Bourdon is composing,
Resurrecting the tiniest notes
amidst the moss along the garden path where it sits,
There is no piano
Rain clouds come about
He is at his happiest now
He does not play
Discovering a cork in a flower pot he smiles
Château Latour
He does not drink
On the brink of a new idea
He topples over in the grass
And (pausing to consider tears of joy)
Smashes his head against Hollywood

Oh poet....Oh poet!
I myself am so proud to see someone pay tribute to the cinema in poetry. Poetry is my mistress but film is my wife. I myself am a small independent film maker. I myself have many problems with Hollywood, the ways of Hollywood, the garbage that comes from Hollywood. Film is at it's best when it is an expression not a mind killer. The arts of Bergman, Kurosawa, Cocteau, Renoir, Polanski, Argento, Altman, and many other "cinematic artists" scream louder than anything Hollywood produces.
While I am only slightly familiar with Didier Bourdon (and more as an actor than anything else) I do respect anyone who challenges the Hollywood way of filming. Certainly composing in the world of film is something only art film fans truly understand. Filming is not simply pointing and shooting and it is not about what looks appealing to the lust of mankind. It is being compelled by the things which make life enormous. It is the search for understanding (not tolerance) through expression. It is not coming up with a quotable one liner. It is coming up with a compelling discussion. it is not coming up with a cool hero and a cool villain. It is showing the struggle of the hero and the struggle of the villain. It is an expression to show the hero and the villain in us all. It is a perfume from the oils of humanity. Taking the essence and cutting it down to it's simplicity which in turn makes it something beyond simple.
A wonderful work of art you have hear. I was thrilled to see this. I will be looking into Didier Bourdon's work a little more. I was impressed with "The Three Kings" and have not seen anything of his before or since. Thanks for directing my attention.
BRAVO!
