Epiphany of an Admirer (the story of the seas)

Contributed by kiss4roq on Saturday, 14th June 2008 @ 11:13:47 PM in AEST
Topic: goodbyepoetry

We stood up high on the cliff, fingers entangled,
Looked down on the oceans waves, rocks mangled,
I threatened to jump, you held me tight,
You threatened to jump, my face turned white,

I couldn’t hold you, whereas you once held me,
I watched you drop, into the rocks and the sea,
You sailed away on the waves of influence,
And my heart crumbled in your absence,

I stood on that cliff, and watched you in the wave,
You fought for as long as you could, but in the end could not be saved,
You drifted for quite some time; I don’t believe you knew your plight,
Because I looked into your eyes, which reached into your soul and you were as high as a kite,

I watched as my hero withered away,
And in the end, I had this to say,
“I look into your eyes, which reach into your soul,
But the farther I gazed, the more life took its toll,
You captured my heart, with your hearts warm embrace,
But by the end, our memories will be erased”

So sink into the waves like the rest,
I’ll be standing, admiring from the crest,
Always watching, here when you can no longer hold on,
But in the next instant, I’ll be forever gone.

You’re now completely meshed into the wave,
A soul, my heart, with no way to be saved,
No longer are you different, a stranger in my eyes,
You were a ship, now you’re a lifeboat capsized.

Stranded in the waters so deep, I admire you from afar,
Trying to gaze into your soul, trying to remember who you are,
Holding on, grasping for breathe, salted waves engulf me,
In my own ocean of tears, I was swept out to sea.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
