I'll Walk Away, You'll Do The Same.

Topic: SadPoetry

The bitterness of time seems to stand between us all
Each moment that determines the rise or fall
The pivotal points that define who we are
Are somehow carried away from us
Until we end up in a spot unrecognized and too far
Too far gone to gain back everything we lost
Everything unseen to the those we hold so dear
So in the few seconds we are pulled back to each other
We still remain distant, unknown, and full of fear
Going over each memory in our head
Then just as fast as the time began, it comes to an end
And we are left with all the things that remain unsaid
I'll walk away, you'll do the same
Days will turn to years, a thousand tears will be cried
Deep inside we'll both carry a piece of us that has died
And still time will continue to carry on
All the aspects of life we could have shared will fall away
Once vivid memories will slowly fade to grey
Emotions will end up burried in the ground
Dead to our hearts, nowhere to be found
The tears in our eyes will take their last drops
Because the clock never stopped spinning
And life never stops
Our wounds will heal
But the scars will remain
The sadness will last forever
But the years the will numb the pain
In the blink of a selfish eye
Our lives have passed each other by
But that's okay...
Because I'll walk away, and you'll do the same
Knowing that time will always be the enemy.

You've managed to make a small simple personal emotion of loss and love into a great universal force. I think this is very moving. Particularly like how you ended this poem:
'But that's okay...
Because I'll walk away, and you'll do the same
Knowing that time will always be the enemy.'
It seems to me you are being intentionally ironic, as everything obviously isn't 'ok'. This poem expresses the way that when a relationship is over and two people part usually very little ever gets resolved, time doesn't heal but more often allows you to forget..
cheers,
SC

This is beautifully sad. So true is each word. I know this describes situations in my own life.
