~CLOSE TO THEE~

~~^~~

Yes, my friend,
I know it's hard for you..
My wanting, hoping, waiting...
Always seeming to be baiting..
As I reach out in a way
That fills you with fear.

Once upon a time I kept my life hidden
deep inside my pockets for none to see.
No one to touch, or hurt or tell.
Yet already you know me so well.
I trust you so much,
That I hold it all out for you to touch and see
Knowing that you would never hurt me.

It's all right, my friend, it's okay.
I know you'll stay while you can,
Then you'll go, and I'll grow,
And I'll probably cry for a while.
Fear not, sweet friend, don't flee,
I only want to be close to thee.

~~^~~

Enjoyed this. It's not easy to write poems about deep emotions especially those of love and admiration without sounding slushy. Well done.
