Be the best you are, as if that would be enough.

Topic: selfstruggles

You're like a thorn in my side,
A weed in my garden.
A knife at my heart,
Also a mess you'll have to pardon.
I stand alone on these front steps,
Ready to walk away.
You bind me into another trap,
Because you have the nerve to say,

"Stand for what you believe in, if that's anything at all."
"Tell yourself it's worth it, but only if you can stand tall."
"Be the best you are, as if that would be enough."
"Believe in yourself, although we understand if that's to tough"

My faith in you is dissolving,
Remember when you used to be loving?
I can't control a distance from you,
it's a lost cause sad but true.
To me you're just a bad dream,
Although it's sad we used to be a team.
You wither away all my hopes,
When you tug at my insides with these ropes.

"Stand for what you believe in, if that's anything at all."
"Tell yourself it's worth it, but only if you can stand tall."
"Be the best you are, as if that would be enough."
"Believe in yourself, although we understand if that's to tough"

As you suffocate my lungs,
Limp as a leaf stands my tongue.
You drag me down into the waters,
I am helpless as I await this slaughter.
You pull me down into the abyss,
I never thought you could say something like this.

"Stand for what you believe in, if that's anything at all."
"Tell yourself it's worth it, but only if you can stand tall."
"Be the best you are, as if that would be enough."
"Believe in yourself, although we understand if that's to tough"

I stand alone in a silent field,
Waiting for some sign to be revealed.
You come along,
Just to sing your song.
I won’t listen this time,
To all your rhymes.

“Stay away.” I say in a confused voice,
Surprisingly you make no noise.
No words do you utter from your lips,
All of a sudden the silence rips.
I see a man standing tall,
Where you used to stand only so small.
Only for a moment I stand and stare,
But then I begin to hear.

“Stand for what you believe in,”

And now I begin to see my sins.

“If that’s anything at all.”

I remember to stand tall.

“Be the best you are”

I stand and raise this bare.

“As if that would be enough."

And now I realize all along,
Trying to lose you was wrong.
You are a part of me,
Only a part I wanted to cast to the sea.
I won’t drown my sorrows anymore,
Only because I know you will await at my door.
I’m not sorry to say,
I must leave you today.
So I’ll travel this life awake but alone,
To go and see the world through the unkown.
