THE LAKE

The Lake

I was sitting one day by the lake.
Thinking of life and staring at the wake.
The sun was shining bright this day.
I noticed a stranger heading my way.
The last thing I wanted was some idle chit chat.
Hopefully he will leave me alone and just scat.
He came and sat about five feet away.
Of all days for someone to notice me. Why today?
Could he see I looked troubled?
Today it seems to be doubled.
The man asked what was bothering me.
I told him my life was a mess and no one could see.
I asked him to please let me be.
He patiently insisted on sitting with me a while longer.
He said of the two objects I had with me the book was stronger.
I said I believed the stronger of the two was the gun.
He said give me a few minutes and I will show you my son.
He had me look up some verses about Gods love.
He said it was as pure as a snow white dove.
He showed me some that told of strength through trials.
He said that Gods love has watched over me all my traveled miles.
He finished with a few on grace and glory.
He asked me to tell others and share my story.
He asked if I would pray with him.
To ask God to wash away the sin.
The last sentence of the prayer,
Were words of wisdom I would like to share.
It is not time for your life to be done.
Your mission from the father has just begun.
He then told me to go and tell my story.
To teach others of the great grace and glory.
I was in awe with no words to speak.
I just patted his cheek.
I turned to go away,
When I remembered I had something to say.
I looked back, but saw only a patch of goldenrod.
It was at that very moment that I realized I had touched the face of God.
