Lousy at Love

Contributed by Rakerman1999 on Saturday, 31st May 2008 @ 11:22:49 PM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

All alone at the end of her rainbow
In a bar called the Flickering Flame
She drinks to a soon to be memory...

Will he even remember her name

She cries to the tune that is playing
Some song about love turning cold
It's funny, they all promise rainbows
But rarely deliver the gold...

She's better off lonely
Convinced that it's only
a fact, when push comes to shove.

She can't shake the feeling
A sad heart revealing
The truth that she's lousy at love.

All alone at the end of his rainbow
In a bar called the Flickering Flame
He drinks to a life in a turmoil
With an elegant toast to his shame

He sighs to the tune that is playing
And empties the rest of his glass
It's funny, they all promise rainbows
But leave when the storms come to pass...

He's better off lonely
Convinced that it's only
a fact, when push comes to shove.

He can't shake the feeling
A sad heart revealing
The truth that he's lousy at love.

All alone at the end of their rainbows
Just a couple of bar stools apart
A glance and a smile and just maybe
A future of laughter might start
But he's awfully tired of rejection
and she's pretty sick of the game
So again, they'll just go home lonely
From a bar called the Flickering Flame

They're better off lonely
Convinced that it's only
A fact , when push comes to shove.

They can't shake the feeling
Their sad hearts revealing
The truth that they're lousy at love

Hi Larry..Great to read another of your lovely poems.. I can 'hear' this one in my head... and feel it in my heart. It would make a great song, I'm sure. Well done, as always.
Take care
Jenni

um Surprise! I have remembered my username and password. That's a little bit sad of a poem. Seems like they are soulmates but will never find out for not giving it a shot.

I was looking for this the other day but didn't remember the name. It has a nice beat and If I could dance, I would. The melody plays in my head ... Really nice job.
