Distant Love, Staining Tears

Contributed by ingeniusidiot on Saturday, 31st May 2008 @ 05:25:25 AM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

Out an open window gazing into the night
Watching angels glide upon the wind
Only crimson stains on this pillow know of the plight
As wine-filled kisses, the breeze does send
Across long miles the eyes have lost all sight
By heart-strings played, love hopes to mend
As thoughts and dreams to the moon endure their flight
And once again by lovers’ hearts time and space does bend

Those staining tears to a dry lake bed have forever been transformed
That pillow that once was white has become a scarlet sponge upon my bed
Time and space to a lover’s heart has not conformed
For some wishes can only be found in the dreamer’s head
Love cannot swing the hands of time so as with time, space cannot be reformed
As love hands you a shovel to dig graves for the dead
For under the midday sun the blood that courses through those veins is heated and warmed
And the angels that once flew upon the midnight breeze no longer dare to tread

So to this lover’s heart the Reaper has answered the call
And with a blade this heart has been made whole
Life was too perfect and from Grace sometime had to fall
Now nothing in Heaven or earth this bleeding heart can console

I am still in love with that line. I just can't get over it. This was a beautifully written poem and I love the twist it took from the beginning until the end. It is a wonder to me that no one else will comment yet they can read the poem.

Take care
Christina
