The phone is silent its off the hook,
the pages burned in the book of life.
The past is past a minute before
we deadbolt covers an unwelcome door.
The words fall silent, the breeze is stilled.
Flowers once beautiful droop and wilt.
Seeds now sown, beds are made,
across the dormant paper stage.
The cave is waiting, the lights turned out.
Gathering scattering, hearts in doubt.
The pages blocked, the locket broke
Daisies no longer sing, less provoked.
Speak of love, speak of hate.
Listen to old rusty gates.
Slamming in winds bitter cold.
The time has come, some feel old.
The gathering of goodbyes,
fragments sentances,
tossed collections, of all held dear.
Thrown to chance, dust to wind
Gathering of goodbyes the chapters end.

Shel - strong stuff. 'The gathering of goodbyes 'is a powerful phrase, and there is such a profound finality to it all. Hopefully its one door closing to allow another to open.
