Ode to a New Life

Contributed by Chamaron on Friday, 30th May 2008 @ 03:53:31 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Perhaps they call it growing older,
Or maturity as one learns to forgive.
But there is an asterisk by this thing,
For I could only forget in order to live.

Distanced from trespasses of yesterday,
I remember but have lost the feeling.
Numbed to the pain I felt, betrayed,
I regained my bearings; I am healing.

I accept that I cannot understand,
But try, even if there is nothing to show.
I feel the pain of smaller falls,
Opened up, I have learned to grow.

As the sea of uncertainty tosses me about
I will lose my gripping again, for fear.
But I will never be thrown overboard,
For this time, my friends are here.

Something I relied on taken away,
I dizzied but found myself standing tall.
Grasping for the meaning I needed,
I’ve found it here in my hands after all.

I found so much to relate to in this. A wise poem written with a shining pen. A clean slate per say ey?

It is a nice feeling to know that we do have our own key and can mend our way when at times our flight comes on a broken wing isn't it?

Hugs
