~Nothing in Common~

Contributed by shelby on Saturday, 24th May 2008 @ 02:44:55 PM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

For this moment, the heart rests weary, heavy like a stone in my chest.
This rainy night seeps deep inside and my tears flow free once more.
I tried to mend a broken bridge and bring back some life and light, unsheltered.
Free to fly on high like eagles, peaceful, free, restless, a calm resting near.

Iv missed the years that have passed us by and where only silence remained.
Quiet as a forest floor after springs first sullen dreary rains.
Iv longed to hold the babies tight, and know them as I hoped they would know me.
Iv regretted those long lost words that flew like winds in barren tree's.

I heard tonight but not from you we have nothing in common.
You would rather just not talk to me or break bread as an offering of peace.
Why could you have not spoken those words, hurtful as they are to me??
I have a heart hanging on tight to dreams that I made, strings breaking lose, letting go.

I see a moment in the sun which now I have come to know.
That will never again transpire and the times will still just go on.
Without the you and without the me, no us no we just forgotten dreams and heartfelt memories.
How could you simply just let go? When I was so willing to try.......

I don't know if the last words that express how I felt about this poem would be rock on but I would just like to say that this poem sounds like my life in a nutshell a few years ago. People would never just come out and admit that we just had nothing in common. I was willing to work through with that but they just keep on. They never even gave it a second look over. They said their lies to me to try to make me feel better. Such as "Your like a brother to me" or "One day we will be more than friends. But in the end I only felt sorrow about those lies. So I do understand what your going thorough I truly empathize with your situation. Im here to say that things will get better as they did for me.
