Summers Moon

Contributed by zenith66 on Sunday, 18th May 2008 @ 12:54:16 AM in AEST
Topic: fantasy

A cratered hole of lunar white,
Roves across unbroken blue,
Piercing atmospheric hue,
Toppling oddly as it goes,
And calling night,

A stranger sight I’ll never view,
Sinking slow with eerie swing,
Over trees and hills and things,
Oblong crescent sailing slow
‘Mid dying blue,

If one could share with me this scene,
Of spatial bodies intertwined,
The evening sun and moon combined,
To cumber every earthly eye,
And let them dream,

Down and down the comrades fall,
To greet the dusky veils of eve,
Its here the sun must take its leave,
So all remains the souring moon,
To keep us all…

Z, as you know I hold a great admiration and respect for our dear moon.
And though dead and cratered she may be ... she is still the most beautiful
sight on a warm summer's breezy eve. Especially when she is fully dressed.
How breathtaking!

This was so incredibly unique and imaginative. The last two stanzas
are my favourite upon first reading, but I will be going back for
another. (and another, and another)

Beautiful imagery, zenith. As only you can do! :)

~Breezy

now I feel a little out of my league after reading some of your poems. You have amazing imagery and are very good. I really liked this one because of the way you describe the moon. As I read it I saw it as a protector. It was lovely.
