The dove with her beautiful feathers
white as winters snow.
Sat high above the tree lines
singing her song soft and slow.
A treat for all who listened
a fresh start to greet the day.
Beauty in its purest form
as she sang happy and gay.
The devil sat on his fence.
With the sly look on his face.
He could not stand something so beautiful
He wanted to have her call it quits.
"I shall tempt her into my world,
that is what the devil said.
As he sat rubbing his horns
and smoothing his suit of ugly red.
The devil approached the dove,
and with his charming smile.
Told her if she would come along
he would make it worth her while.
The robins and sparrows saw it,
the crow sat and shook his head,
the butterflies and bee's were afraid
cause they heard all the devil had said.
The dove went off with the devil.
Her world turned upside down.
First she thought it all innocent
she soon found her world in doom.
Her beautiful feathers began to turn gray.
Her song was not as pretty.
All her friends began to miss her,
she was now not the same.
One day she looked at the heavens,
as a few more of her feathers fell out.
She began to cry, and proclaimed with a forced shout.
What am I doing??
The dove poked the devil.
The devil tried to resist.
She was precise and consistent
Mr devil this time was not going to win.
The Dove sat high above the tree line
her feathers doubled their size.
The devil sat on the fence
shrinking in his own demise.
