The fire gnawed into her body
As though it were inside the sun,
Peach blossom complexion
And rising sun eyes
The shame of Hiroshima.
Horror incarnate in womanly form,
Her eyes half out of their sockets.
Her twisted mouth,
And black scarred flesh
The shadow of Hiroshima
Hating the vision she saw in the mirror
And hiding her face from the world,
She is a prisoner
Alone with her nightmare
She is Hiroshima.

I've seen similiar pictures and this poem really describes it well. There are also a lot of stories about generations and generations coming back with cancer because of that blast. It was truly a sad day when America had to do that to stop a war...
