I can re-design the world to my exact specifications,
Then destroy it all with the push of a button.
We can go out and have some beer together,
Smoke a few cigarettes and reminisce.
I can go home and work on my resumé
So I can become a millionaire someday.
We can all start a big, loving family,
And watch our kids grow up to be just as great.
Raise your right hand and swear allegiance
Because you can do anything with your life.
The flag flies above your head with
Jets flying above in those fluffy, white, acidic clouds.
I can make them clean and I can make them burn.
I have a voice and a pencil with paper to tell
You exactly what I want to see and feel.
I rented this megaphone to educate everyone.
They would rather walk on by without my nuisance.
If I were them, I would keep walking too.
With this voice I can keep shouting
And this mind can stay oblivious to it all.
Raise your right hand and take an oath
To being able to do anything or nothing.
While the flag flies overhead to the
Sound of a 12 gun salute and marching feet.
All the opportunities at your fingertips
Until it’s time to dig ditches for the rent.
Hollowing the ground for your best
Friend who put too much in the needle.
Paving the way for the next wave who will
Raise their right hand and swear on the
Holy Bible that they will try their hardest,
Work forever towards the blinding white light.
And the flag still flies up in those acid-rainclouds.
It’s right at the tip of your tongue and
The edge of your sweaty fingertips.
If only anyone could see through the high beams.

I found this to be an intriguing piece.
To me it painted the picture of all the strife in life that we choose not to see. The pain that we turn a blind eye too.
And in the name of what?
Just some thoughts. Enjoyed the read.
Peace
