This Battle

Topic: selfstruggles

To fight the impulse is so…hard.
Every time I look into that mirror and see what I’ve done to myself,
I wonder where the young girl went, the one that was unscarred.
All there is now, are scars upon scars;
A girl locked behind bars.
I know she wants out,
Without a doubt.
If only I knew how to do that,
To let go of the past and stop staring at all that fat.
To let go of that painful past and all those harsh words.
But for me, that’d be as hard as turning time backwards.
The past has shaped me,
Turning me into a cold shell, hollow and empty.

I want to do this for him…and for me.
Show him that I’m capable of fixing my mistakes.
And show myself that I can do it.
I want that hidden path of mine to once again be lit.
I want off this path, the one with such high stakes.
My eyes need to be cleared, to let me once again see.
What I’m doing to myself is wrong.
And I know that my recovery is going to take so very long.
But it must be done;
For this battle I am fighting has to be won.
