Door

Contributed by JayBryant on Saturday, 10th May 2008 @ 06:50:47 PM in AEST
Topic: Grief

Playing with my friend,
We Jump high on his trampoline.
Always laughing.
With board games and cards we spent our time,
Having fun as boys do.
Swimming in his pool in the backyard on hot summer days.
Change of season, leaves fade to brown, orange and gold.
School begins,
After school is the only time we can play.
But he has a girlfriend now, to busy to spend time with me.
During the weekends we can still hang out?
Hunts with his father on the weekends he said.
The water on the pond turns to ice, winter has arrived.
I don’t see my friend that much anymore, briefly in the halls of school
A word not said between us, we’ve grown apart.
It is Christmas now, colorful lights on every house.
I heard his girlfriend left him, high school romances never last.
He got a twenty-two from his father,
To congratulate him on his hunting prowess.
In his hand that gun was a key,
He slid the key into the lock; Barrel to his mouth
Turned the key; Squeezed the trigger
Opening the door that held all the answers.
Slumped against the wall by the Christmas tree

A shocking, but beautifully written piece. Left me speachless. Keep the posts coming.

Yikes....didn't expect anything like that... really sad but well written... the reader is drawn in to the story from start to finish...
