To a bell tower with 6 notes

I want to live near you,
Not so high,
For fear,
And the volume of the bells when you stand that close.
For the city I have no chip on my shoulder,
No hump on my back for the bells.
But what will ring for me in the streets?
A man in a Santa Claus hat with a bell,
And one who coughs,
Due to a cigarette.
And where can I stand?
Where they do not hold the running of the cars at noon,
About the time I should like to hear you,
And you alone,
Your bronze notes muffled by the snow,
Such music, and with six notes!
I have never known.
