My wall standing against the world.
All the horror,
It’s all there.
But my apathy keeps me safe.
So incapable of sorrow,
Except for your case.
This hard shell of a man,
The one who sees everything,
But is affected by nothing.
He’s been broken,
If only for a while.
You can’t be serious.
This can’t happen to someone I know.
Too ______ close to home.
I still won’t shed a tear,
But that space somewhere inside me,
The one that lets me know I have a soul.
Well something moved in there today
And let me realize people are still human.
Won’t comprehend.
Can’t put myself in your shoes,
But oh, how I express sorrow.
And pity you the way I shouldn’t.
Strength carries you through.
I don’t even have the
Might to listen to it.
And I realize I could so easily
Implode under half the pressure.

I like this poem a lot. It says a lot without telling too much. It also does not drag on, it's straight to the point and tells a story within itself. |
