She Harbored

Grief
|
The mood in the air screamed sorrow
As the family gathered around
The funeral was set for tomorrow
Then they’d lower him into the ground
Their mother was nowhere to be found
She had disappeared out of sight
Unrelenting grief had her bound
And she was ready to give up life’s fight
The guilt and grief she harbored grew stronger every night
She ventured outside praying, consumed by all the pain
As flashbacks of the fires might
Washed over her like rain
They silently watched their mother cry
Wishing that their fallen angel could send her a reply
