Should I Do it?

Contributed by juliestevens18 on Thursday, 1st May 2008 @ 10:42:24 AM in AEST
Topic: self-harmpoetry

I hold in my hands the piece
That has separated me from reality
I take it in my hands and ask
What should I do with this memory
shall I throw it away and watch it run
Or should I use it although it’s not an option

I like to hold the metal in my hands
I have no control and then I feel the sliver
Hoping that I will be able to stay asleep
Wanting to know what will happen to me

I think of my past and I shudder
The flower has bloomed, but there is no sunlight
There is no water, there is no earth
No matter how hard I try there is no
Me

Maybe I should just do it
Don’t you understand
what it feels like to have one action
Take you back into your insanity

Dreampt about it last night
Couldn’t shake the thoughts
Wanted to know what it felt like
I have missed it long enough

But then I look at my hands and I think no
Although my veins are on fire
And the blood is trickling
I must stay strong
I miss hold on
I can’t escape the feeling
I might as well take it on
