Fable of a MANsion

Contributed by Vic on Wednesday, 30th April 2008 @ 10:47:10 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

There, stands a mansion, call it a house of pain,
Stripped of its splendor, now only memories remain.
Scary on the outside, but inside its different,
To make it your own, I thought you were hell bent.

Once adorned with paintings were the walls,
You could hear music when you walked the halls.
There were wild flowers to spread the aroma of love,
There was tranquility and peace like the heaven above.

A sparkling chandelier in the living room that hung,
Was like a heart onto which a human life clung.
In the name of renovation you dropped the crystal to the ground,
One such as this that you broke could never again be found.

Now the floor is broken and the ceiling is cracked,
And the place is overwhelmed with anguish that it lacked.
Hope a homemaker soon comes along to see,
That it is a gift to own this mansion, that is me.

I'm with Michelle, the metaphor is brilliant! The feeling of devastation
within it is overwhelming and the ending was so emotionally subtle.

Written with heart and a profound understanding. Thanks for sharing!
