~One Night With You~

Contributed by Jenni_K on Monday, 28th April 2008 @ 11:27:38 AM in AEST
Topic: DreamsandWishes

If I could have one night with you,
Here is exactly what I'd like to do.
I'd cook you a meal and make sure you ate it,
Even if I had to feed you bit by bit.

No 'take-out' for you tonight, I'd say,
Right at this table is where you'd stay.
I'd make you a large cuppa, so fine and hot,
Don't worry, I won't put you on the spot.

Now while we let our meal digest,
We'll listen to music at its best.
Sipping coffee as we often do online,
Knowing that tonight, you're gonna be mine.

I'd invite you to take a stroll with me,
Along my beach of sheer tranquility.
We'd walk together, hand in hand,
Quietly enjoying the cool, white sand.

Softly, we'd chat the night away,
Till the dawn brings a brand new day.
We'd watch the sun rise as we sit on the beach,
My head on your shoulder, hands within your reach.

So content and happy I'd be to just sit there
Knowing we enjoy all that we share.
Yes, if I could have just one night with you,
I'd sneak myself just one little kiss too. :->

Very sweet poem. Certain lines, like "Knowing that we enjoy all that we do share," seem a bit awkwardly constructed to fit inside the poem, but overall it still works. It's works out quite nicely.

I did find my way here, I should have more faith in myself :)
I like this poem. First of all I love poems that rhyme and you do that very well. I like how your lines flow easily and gracefully. No stumbling block words in the middle that stop the flow of a sentence before the reader reaches the end. Content of the story is also very good, I could not wait to read what would happen as the poem progressed. All in all well done Jenni!!! Wayne - jsringo - The knight
