A Soldier's Cry

Contributed by Tana on Wednesday, 12th March 2003 @ 09:20:00 PM in AEST
Topic: SongLyrics

A young man in fatigues, ready to go to war.
A wife and son are crying, but that’s who he’s fighting for.
A Mothers home praying, down upon her knees,
Father please protect him and bring him back to me.
His Dad is standing back, somewhere amid the crowd,
The soldier hears him yell, Son go and make me proud.

Then it starts.....and a tear drops......and a soldier cries......
Crying for the family he didn’t want to leave,
but knowing what he’s doing is something he believes, He believes.
Then it stops.....and a tear dries.......and a soldier smiles.....
Angels are you coming to walk me through the door,
I’ve got a plane to catch now.......Destination WAR.

A young man lies in a fox hole in the middle of the night,
thinking about his family and knowing they’re alright.
A wife and son are crying as they read his tear stained letter,
Hoping that tomorrow will be a little better.
A Mothers still at home, down upon her knees,
Praying to the one who died to make us free.
Dad is staying quiet, working hard as he can,
Thinking about his son that’s now become a man.

Then it starts.....and a tear drops......and a soldier cries.......
Crying for his buddy that didn’t make it through,
Crying out in fear, GOD show me what to do.
Then it stops.....and a tear dries......and a soldier smiles.....
Angels are you coming, I need you there with me,
I’ve got a fight to win now.........Destination PEACE.

Shots were all around him, then the next thing that he knew,
This young man lay there fallen, his time it seemed was due.
Everything went silent in the middle of a war,
He knew that he was dying and what he was dying for.

Then it starts......and a tear drops.....and JESUS cries....
Crying for the family now feeling all alone,
Crying for his Child that’s finally coming home.
Then it stops......and a tear dries......and JESUS smiles......
Soldier are you coming, you’re time on earth is ending,
We’ve got a cloud to catch now ...Destination HEAVEN.

You forgot to mention the part where we all cry. Damn, I was hopeing he would make it through. A brilliant poem, catchs imagination, empathy and what a family would go through. Fine piece of work my friend.
