More Than I Need
I take more than I need,
and need more than I can take.
A daily trek through this at-war status,
is comprised in the constant acquisition of it.
Just how does one suppress such an aspiration?
For it rests outside the dimensions of anyone’s self.
An attempt to break away would be feeble at the least,
and would certainly cause more harm than good.
The inner need is all consuming,
much like a black hole that devours all matter before it.
From you, it saps your thoughts, and your dreams.
And never are they to reach the light.
This feeling stems from beyond comprehension.
As if to hail from an abyss of immeasurable limits,
thus revealing neither beginning nor an end.
And comparatively, rivaled only by the vastness of the universe itself.
It can lead you forward, or leave you floundering, and unsure of direction.
To suit its own purpose, you, it will twist and conform.
And although enduring at times, at others it is fleeting.
Control is always at its service.
It asks for nothing less than your total submission.
And in its grasp, you are rendered defenseless.
It is beholden to none but itself.
For its construction is absolute.
The dynamics of it are quite complicated,
when detailed by point of the human mind.
Yet in nature’s realm, it is modestly simple.
For this is a primary block, in the rule of nature.
To have never experienced a touch of this,
would have been never to have live at all.
For it is as basic a human need, as the air we breathe.
Take what you can, and cherish it.
…for there is no greater force.
