Hurt and Love

Topic: selfstruggles

You hurt those who love you
And you love those who hurt you.
It’s so pathetic, yet so true.
I love the guy who is killing me
And, that, the guy who loves me doesn’t see.
I love that one guy,
The one who is such a lie.

I’ve always wanted a guy who would love me for me,
And when he finally comes along, I don’t see.
I like the guys who hurt me, I realize,
That one with the blue eyes.
I’ve done so many wrong things,
And this is my way of punishing myself.

The guy I love doesn’t love me back,
And the guy who loves me I may as well attack.
I’ve hurt him so much,
And all he wants is to feel my touch.
Yet the guy I love couldn’t give a damn about me.
He’s made me so empty.
But that’s who I want,
The one who makes me feel so daunt.
When I think back to how much this guy has hurt me,
That’s when I see
How much I am hurting the other one,
The one who doesn’t just want me for some fun,
The one who truly loves me.
I wonder what the h*** is wrong with me.

One thing that a person on the outside finds so difficult to see is why a woman would stay with a guy that abuses her. The first time a guy hit (mentally and/or physically) me, I would so be out of there. I'm sorry for your situation. My suggestion would be for you to get out of the bad relationship, get some help, and explain to the one who loves you that you want to help yourself get better so you don't (or further) hurt him. Good luck, hon! This poem is very well written. Very powerful. ~Sara

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
