To the one I love:
I wrote you a letter, to make you feel better, about your recent plight,
I licked the envelope, filled it with a little hope, and sealed it tight,
I stuck it in a basket, which sat next to your jacket, and wished for you to read,
You’d never come back, you’re on a one way track, and reality’s taken the lead,
So:
I smiled to the sky, jumped up to fly and fell straight back down,
I wanted to be with you, but my life still holds true, and I’m still here on the ground,
So when you fly over me, look down to see, and remember that I’m here,
And remember how together we'd lay, from night until day, and reflect on a life that was dear.
