Does it Have to be Like This ?

Does it have to be like this
To always be apart
After all I thought
It was written in the stars

I gave you all of me
Nothing did I withhold
Did I ever stand a chance
To have you and to hold?

I know you really do love me
But I must love you more
To spend my life with you
There’s nothing more I’d adore

I’m not sure you truly do
Understand me when I say
I’d love to be with you
Each and every day

Sometimes things take a little more time
To get to where we want to be
But believe me I’ve been on that road
The road to you & me

I thought it was our destiny
On the day that we both met
Nothing to come between us
Just stronger we would get

I want to hold you in my arms
For now and ever more
Every noise I hear outside
But it won’t be you at my door

Not sure which way to turn
You have me up & down
Defences slowly climbing back up
When really they should be down

I make no apologies for loving you
Nor for my broken heart
I’ll never stop missing you
Never have, right from the start

As time goes by remember me
With a smile & a sigh
I’ll always be you best friend
That you can’t deny

This is my thoughts & feelings
How I feel sat here today
Knowing you don’t want to talk no more
You said you have nothing left to say

For my True Valentine
‘Crazy Cheeky Chipmunk’

All my love forever

Your
Sunshine

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
