Do You Really Want To Know?
You asked me a question the other day
I did not reply unsure of the words to say
You asked me why was I here in this place
Well, here is the answer though not face to face
I am here because of my desire to write
And to help others when they have no will left to fight
I am here because I have so much more to say
More than I could ever express in a single day
My caring for people has been a blessing and a curse
At times not sure which fate is worse
Taking on a strangers battle or dealing with demons of my own
Though through it all those close to me have seen how I have grown
I am going to be here as long as the good Lord wills
Though it may be the desire of some for me to head for the hills
I am here because I love you so
So please do not ask me to go
I am telling you this in a way I hope is clear
I am not sure if it will be for a week or a year
When my duties are all complete and I have nothing left to do
That is the time that I will be leaving you
I hope this answers any doubt you may feel
As to the intent of my being here as real
I stand on my word as I have done in the past
I will show you a friendship that forever will last

Very very well put. I like how you answered the question. It is in some parts even you are confused to why you are here.
ex: "Taking on a strangers battle or dealing with demons of my own:
Then you answer the question to the best you can..
ex:"I am here because I love you so
So please do not ask me to go"
I really like it. Keep up the great writes.

There is a personal touch to this that brings warmth. Like you were sitting near someone having a conversation. Depth of soul to this write that brings it right to ones heart.

Written with such simplicity, honesty and sincerity. Every good poet tries to make a connection to others and when this happens it's the most amazing feeling in the world! You have connected with so many here on this site and I truly hope you are here for the next ten years...and then some....
