The Memory of You

Contributed by nocturnal05 on Wednesday, 16th April 2008 @ 04:41:06 AM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

I looked into your eyes and saw my heart,
From the very start I knew in order to have you I had to be smart.
I walked up to you and finally found the courage to speak,
But the feeling that I was in too deep caused my knees to get weak.
Yet and still I exposed my soul to you in hopes that you would return the favor,
You took me by the hand and man I have to confess your caramel brown skin is my favorite flavor.
Candles burned as I yearned to explore more and more of your silhouette,
And I discovered that traveling to one destination had me more excited to get to the next,
I went from your head to your feet and decided I had to revisit your waist,
Your moans were music to my ears and I couldn’t help but get a second taste.
I touched every piece of land that I could and then I buried myself deep inside,
And you buckled yourself against my body preparing for one hell of a night.
We went as far as we could go and then you collapsed by my side,
Insecurities were born as I thought about the possibility of you not being in my life.
Even though we were finished I still had your sweet kiss burning on my lips,
I wrapped my hands around your hips and as you came nearer to me my heart skipped.
And then the moon fell from the sky and I asked myself why did the stars begin to dim too,
To my surprise I awaken to realize that I spent all that time making love to only the memory of you.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
