One Candle
One candle sits upon a sill
Set for this day of gloom
It will remain throughout the night
One candle, in one room
It is not bright by any means
But it will guide you in
This candle is a welcoming
From those that dwell within
Take refuge from this night’s cold air
Or from a rising storm
You’ve traveled long, and have grown weak
Come in, and please get warm
Sometimes we need a helping hand
To make us all feel right
Just rest, and try to gain your strength
Before you step back to the night
And when your journey brings you home
Where you are better still
Remember to light one of these
Then set it on the sill
For there are others on life’s road
With way too much to handle
They may be searching for the light
Which shines, from that one candle

good job, similar to an idea I was working on, but I think you expressed it better, so maybe it's best left unfinished. |
