There she goes, my best friend
She finally did it, asked a guy to dance
17 years and her first real slow dance
I smile proudly at her as she glances at me over his shoulder
Tears pricking my eyes as the song echoes in my tightening heart
I can't breathe, the pain hurts so bad
Waiting for her to not look at me, I run to the girls' room
The tears won't stop coming now and I let out a shaky sob
She finally got the courage to ask a man to dance
And it just HAD to be him
The one that hurt me the most
I thought I was over him
I thought I was okay
But seeing him dance with her, my best friend
I broke
It hurt too much
There was no end in sight to my tears
Breathing ragged, makeup dripping
I felt like an idiot
Crying over something so long ago
And being an awful friend for being upset at her
I know she has no feelings for him
I know it's just a dance
But broken hearts and pain never ceases
Even when it brings me to my knees
