Looked in the mirror, first time in a while
Lines etch my face, but there's also a smile
Spent time in exile, had time to heal
Scars more prevalent, under rusted steel
Time and distance, made the heart fonder
Focused again, no more do I wander
No longer aimless, no longer in pain
the pain has subsided, but the scars will remain
First time in my life, that I actually feel old
The burden on my heart, was too much to hold
Died and reborn, the cross I did bear
Security and safety, vanished into thin air
Hard lessons learned, but I understand now
Why it had to happen, the when and the how
Move forward in life, evolved once more
One journey is ending, but another's in store

well written. I could feel the lingering pain. I hope the scars continue to fade. |
