THE RAINBOW

Contributed by mohan on Sunday, 6th April 2008 @ 02:22:54 AM in AEST
Topic: NaturePoetry

Look at the grand light show in the wide open sky,
Oh! It is seven colour wonder, the rainbow so high.
On the infinitely spread out canvass of the sky blue,
A perfectly drawn arc is displayed in varied hue.

O Nature, where did you learn the trick of a conjurer,
To produce a spectrum of colours out of rays whiter?
Is the multi coloured arch, perched high, the gateway
To the God’s abode, the blissful heaven, too far away?

The rain drops and sunlight jointly present this show;
Nature sponsors this delightful and captivating expo.
Summer is the time you display your charm and pride,
As other seasons pass by, where do you cleverly hide?

Stimulating Red, vibrant Orange, cheerful Yellow,
Soothing Violet, cool Blue, relaxing Green and Indigo
Are due to dispersion of the sunlight, the scientists say;
This glorious event lasts for a brief moment, by the way.

Down there I see another arc, less bright, though,
How do you manage to duplicate another cute bow?
Your enchanting beauty makes us feel elated ever,
As Keats wrote ‘A thing of beauty is a joy for ever’.

Refreshing our spirits, you symbolise hope, no doubt,
Of Nature’s gift to mankind, unique you stand out.
‘Rain, rain go away’, the playful children may say,
But they want you to stay all thro’ the day, every day.
