closer...a place either where I long to be or shy away from
closer...just enough but not too much
close enough...to feel the wind of your breath but not enough
to be offended by it
come closer...your words draw me nearer and I am met by your embrace
closer still...I feel your arms clasping, gripping, pressing me
tighter against you
even closer...now I'm lost, engulfed in your embrace
close...then I feel the break, your arms gently release s-l-o-w-l-y
then slide up my back
close...fingertips sliding easy across my skin,
rounding my shoulders
close...so lost in this sensation, i fail to notice the hands
forming around my neck
close...grasping, tightening, CHOKING! STOP!
...too close

This is beautiful. If taken literally, it invokes extreme emotion, and figuratively, so many can relate. How many times have people felt smothered by attention, affection, and just need to breath? I hope I've interpreted it somewhat how you meant it; either way, wonderfully written.

I like the way you draw us closer into a false sense of security and then the sudden sting at the end.
