the sacred herb, born from blood
many bodies are buried beneath
drawing sustenance, life from death
shamans nurture it from seed
songs and spells are offered as it grows
the potency is beyond belief
for months it grows, releasing intoxicated scents
hypnotizing those within its reach
when the moon is right and the buds are ripe
in a circle it shall be smoked
releasing the soul, letting it explore
born from blood, the sacred herb
