A Vulture’s Heart.

Contributed by FRANCO on Sunday, 30th March 2008 @ 01:35:13 AM in AEST
Topic: Event

Blazing inferno, towering columns
of gray smoke, sting of scattered
carcasses of soldiers splashed blood,
scaring hell on earth.

As she stood slothfully flexing
her mighty wings, viewing exultant sights
unveil through the towering columns -
of mulish nation’s egoistic flames.

Circling over the sight of gruesome
carnage, pointing toward a tender deceased
warrior, she carves a nose dip to land on his chest,
clutching his heart with spiky claws.

Warm blood still oozing from his still heart;
pause’s she for a flickering moment, wondering, whose
son he could be? Whose love he used to be? Now lay sprinkled
like a worthless thing, on scorching alien desert sand.

Brimming sorrow shocked her trough, though she a desert hungry
so called callous bird, yet have a caring fine heart to prove.

Franco, my dear friend. I have missed your poetry and I need to catch up.

This was somewhat disturbing, but it needed to be, I think. There are
times when we all need that jolt to examine our own hearts and feel
the gravity and depth of what goes on outside our own worlds. And
though I feel you've captured how dire and grave it can be, I know
there is beauty and truth and love as well. We need, but look for it.
It is all around us.

Magnificent write, my friend. Amazingly provocative and beautiful
in its wisdom and fortitude. :)
