The Barbarians

Barbarians are on the rise everywhere,
Their appearance deceptive and mind corrupted,
They are a curse on our civilised society.
Their number is rising day by day,
Like malignant growth, alarmingly.
Snatching away from the police custody,
A boy was chased and beaten up savagely,
The police remaining mute witness helplessly.
Another ‘criminal’ hooked to a two wheeler,
Dragged through the dusty roads,
Like a cart, drawn by wild horses,
To the jeering of the local barbarians.
Some roaming like rabies infested street dogs,
To ‘celebrate’ the New Year in a cosmopolitan city,
Molested the frightened and the helpless women.
Some barbarians in ‘uniform’ gang raped
The vulnerable and the poor tribal women.
Some under the patronage of political banner,
Set one communal group against another,
And enjoy the game; their favourite pastime.
In a remote village, plagued by hatred and rivalry,
The predominant burned alive the weak brutally.
Some flourish under the brand name of ‘terrorists’,
The diabolic monsters ever created by God.
This rot, if not contained, will ruin the nation,
Even the mighty Roman Empire was no exception.
The threat to our country is not from outside,
But within- the ever rising clan of barbarians.
