Rat race to scale the pinnacle of riches,
elbowing love and loved ones into ditches,
erupt like a fiend from the evil-blaze below,
trace that path; by all means,
mean or malicious “so be it” they say,
“all that leads to the unmeasured -
pinnacle of riches.”
The rich; what that he dines?
Wonder’s he on the pavement,
When hunger hits, do he gulps
a monster’s share or likeness of
mine, or when shattered shoulders
drop, does he doze differently?
Mighty rich though he might be,
yet dine and snooze like you and me.
The rich; can he inhale beyond his time, or
can he carry glittering treasures to the world next,
all that he endures, a fallacious flash of light,
that darkens his vision of truth in a flashy second;
mulish that he is; sets his course to override
the pinnacle of riches.
Wonderingly conk out, he on the pavement
as a rich whiz by, on his way to clutch
the pinnacle of riches;
only to be perished and buried,
alongside that unknown carcass,
from the pavement; tomb unscripted.
Mad race to riches - fantasy short lived; mortals
that we are, bare we came bare we shall exit.

Oh my, oh WOW! Exceptional, dear poet. Franco this is a subject I've pondered upon many weary day.
But you have executed the thought here so much more profoundly than I ever could. I left my last
job because of the morals and scruples, (or the lack thereof) of my boss and his .. ah ... second in
command. They cared not for the sufferings or backbreaking of others. And I dare to assume they
still do not. As long as they got the lion's share, who cares what's left for the rest? Or even if there
IS any left!
And forget about empathy or consideration. Damn! FINE writing, my friend. I forgot what mean,
unfeeling, and selfish ingrates those people could be. But as your last line says .. naked we all are.
In the beginning and in the end. Stripped of everything that sets us apart in earthly life. Some
should be reminded of that. (As if they cared in the first place). Thank you for this. :)
peace, dear poet and friend,
~Breezy |

Franco you have (to me) become what modern poetry should've turned into. Most poets who I admire still use the old styles (which I adore). Yet somehow you are able to seduce the reader with a blend of the old and the new. A concoction of newer language with only a subtlely. Your poetry is both fascinating and thought provoking. Only few people can pull both of those off (on this site at least). Never let go of this gift and continue to keep us thinking and fascinate at your work.
The poem here....Excellent. I completely agree and was moved by the subject matter. Our pursuit for wealth is completely futile in the grand scheme. While humanity weighs a soul on it's power and wealth God weighs us on our humility and charity. It's a strange concept that humanity could get so far removed from righteousness that it would actually praise the opposite of it's better angels of nature. Your capture this concept well my friend. You strike the heart and the mind. Your flow, your discriptions, leading to a wonderfully enticing work of art. You have an enormous gift and are among the best poets writing today. Be proud!
SUPERB!
