Standing in the rain under the clouds of bullets
can become strangely comfortable
like a new lazy-boy or an expensive mattress.
I sleep with lightning and play with fire
whilst God stays up late plotting world domination.
When will the time come?
When will my Chinese takeout be here?
Scott Stevens wrote a book about that once,
But Johnny’s heart wasn’t in it.
Standard issue slippers stand by themselves
as true sons of liberty with hexagonal accuracy.
