Titanic

Topic: oops

On board when the ship went down
scared and confused yet strangely fascinated
facing your greatest fear, life flashes before your eyes
It's scary.....
as the ship sinks,
it breaks in half
the sparks fly everywhere, like a spray of fireworks....
as they burst into a million sparkling sparks looking like glitter
as they disappear into the fidget midnight air
you look around, people screaming, praying, confused
hanging on rails for their life, not giving up yet
as they begin to give up they drop,
falling, falling, falling to the dark depths below
freezing waters so vicious, capturing people and their every movement
harder and harder to breathe as the shock starts to hit you
stings like a thousand bullets hitting you at once
not knowing what to do, you hang on till the last minute you drop
the cold waters swallow you whole as the ship takes you down
you swim up, not giving up just yet
you reach the top and can't breathe, the waters taking you as it did the ship
deciding to swim, needing warmth, needing to get out of this water
searching and searching for something to climb on
finding one thing, I use it,
the only thing left is to wait, wait to get saved, waiting for death, or what ever comes next
you drift out of conscience, then come back when you hear yelling, flashing lights shining everywhere
you try to yell, but you have no voice, nothing to do but swim
slipping off your life savor you swim
seeing dead bodies all around you floating, waiting to sink to the dark depths of the sea
by splashing and swimming your life is saved, they hear you and save you
other perished and adrift at sea, but never forgotten.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
