Trails of therapeautic smoke
form chains, disentagled
and escaping the stifling confines of my breath.
The shrouded air is lilting, undulating,
with a husky voice and melancholy melody.
He sings of rusty situations
and sodden little corners.
I follow suit, but in a while
my voice quavers and breaks,
a singular salty tear drop
snuffing out embers on an ashtray.
This song, like a pack of dusty cigarettes
I simply cannot quit.
It replays incessantly and
Oh darling, how I really hate to be so morbidly intrigued.

Hard to pick out a line when each has been sculpted so cleverly.
However, "he sings of rusty situations" is pretty hard to beat.
You packed a lot of imagery in here

Vivid images created here, in a smokey laid-back style. Enjoyed the writing and the read. |
